Come Share the Music

 Conductor Emeritus

Les Muncaster

Leslie N. Muncaster, Jr. has been an integral member of the Ocala/Marion County cultural arts community for more than 26 years. Upon Les’ retirement after 27+ years as a musician with the U.S. Air Force Band, he and Marcia, a former vocalist with the U.S. Air Force Band, traded the cultural life on the Mississippi Gulf Coast to move to Ocala to spend time with family and start a new chapter in their musical careers in beautiful Marion County.

In 1994, Les accepted the position of Music Director/Conductor at Ocala Civic Theatre, providing his musical expertise and leadership for both mainstage and second stage award-winning productions such as “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Secret Garden,” “1776,” and “My Fair Lady.”

In 1998, Les and Marcia became members of Marion County’s own Kingdom of the Sun Concert Band and, in December of that year, Les accepted the volunteer position of Conductor/Music Director for KOS.

The 2020 Marion Cultural Alliance Service Award recipient, Les, as KOS Conductor/Music Director, along with Marcia working behind the scenes (when not singing and performing as a member of the KOS percussion section), have continually looked for ways to provide musical entertainment to the growing and diverse community of which KOS and its members are delighted to be a part.

Today he serves as our Conductor Emeritus.
